Areches is a mountain cheese produced in Savoie department situated in the Rhône-Alpes region in the French Alps. Also named as Grataron D'Areches, it is pressed and uncooked cheese. Made from unpasteurised goat's milk, it has a smooth gray brown crust and a small thick cylinder type shape. Maturation period prolongs for at least one month. Best eaten in summer and when it gets ready to consume, it offers washed, natural rind and 45 % of fat content. It can be served with wines such as Apremont and Abymes de Myans. Similar cheeses include Beaufort, Allue, Pralognan and Courchevel.
