Emmental de Savoie
Emmental de Savoie is a cheese made from cow’s milk. The name Emmental is derived from its valley of origin, the Emme in Switzerland. This cheese came to Savoie with the migration of Swiss-German cheese makers to the east of France and has been produced from the middle of the 19th century. It comes in rounded to half-rounded shape with yellow or brown rind. Its minimum 70 days ripening process brings beautiful yellow colour rind on it. It has distinctive holes in the body known as “eyes”.
