Cheese is also known as LadotiriI of Mitilini. It is produced in the Mitilini island and it is with Controlled Denomination of Origin (DOC). It is manufactured from ewe’s milk or mixture of ewe’s and goat's milk. The main feature of this cheese is that, it is preserved in olive oil and that is why it is called Ladotiri. It has a small cylinder shape, around 1kg weights. Cheese is hard in texture, with small irregular holes. Light yellow in colour it has strong flavour with salty test. Cheese is mainly used as table cheese.
