Rogue River Blue
An exclusive cheese manufactured by Rogue Creamery in Oregon state situated in Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Rogue River Blue is a handmade blue cheese which is produced only during the autumnal equinox and winter solstice. Made from Brown Swiss and Holstein cow’s milk, it is aged in specially designed caves. The milk used for the production of this cheese is derived from the cows which graze in pastures at a 1650 ft elevation and along the Rogue River. The ripening process continues from naturally occurring molds which found in the Rogue River Valley. After aging, the cheese is wrapped in Syrah and Merlot grape leaves macerated in Clear Creek pear brandy and it gets ready to consume in September. Rogue River Blue was awarded as best blue cheese and best American cheese at 2003 World Cheese Awards in London and it has won a gold medal at American Cheese Society competition in 2004. It vigorous and strong taste can be paired with Sauternes or any dessert wine.
