Ski Queen Gjetost
Gjetost cheese is available in two types namely Ski Queen Gjetost and Ekte Gjetost. Ski Queen Gjetost cheese is made from goat and cows’ milk while Ekte Gjetost cheese is produced only from goats’ milk and whey. This type of Gjetost cheese is famous as a skiers’ snack so named as Ski Queen Gjetost. Ekte Gjetost is darker in colour and richer in flavour than Ski Queen Gjetost. Made from goat and cows’ milk, Ski Queen Gjetost is semi-hard in consistency. It is also popular among Norwegian children. This brown coloured cheese offers sweet and nutty taste. It's sweet taste and caramel flavour comes from the caramelisation of the milk under pressure. It is sold in blocks. Sliceable in wafer thin slices with a cheese plane and often eaten at breakfast on toast, crisp bread or biscuits. It can be also melted into plenty of food dishes.
