New Year is right around the corner, which means it’s time to clean out the home, dust the pretty plates, and get partying! The easiest way you can become a popular host is by setting up a cheese board that isn’t just aesthetic but is mouthwatering as well. Your cheese board should have some well-liked cheeses but should also include some exotic varieties that will pair well with some classic beverages, your main course, or even your dessert options.

When you consider cheese that goes with everything, you’ve created the perfect cheese board that your guests won’t stop eating! And the best part is, you can even prepare a Cheese gift box to make sure your guests remember you well after the New Year party. Win-win!

Gruyère

Made from unpasteurized cow's milk, Gruyère is a hard Swiss cheese that is creamy, nutty, and almost dark yellow. This cheese can be paired well with some red or white wine, but we recommend enjoying it with fresh fruits and chocolate; white or dark, according to your choice.

Taleggio

Produced in Lombardy, Italy, Taleggio is a semi-soft cheese made from cow's milk. While you can enjoy this cheese on gourmet pizza or pasta, the creamy, bold flavors pair well with some prosecco or diced pears and grapes.

Roquefort

Blue veined cheese is usually a risky cheese on a cheese board during a party, but Roquefort is a safe bet. The tangy flavor profile of this cheese is best enjoyed with a bite of grapes or pears. You can serve it as a topper to your grilled meats, or have slices of the cheese to eat with some cold beer!

Cremont

Made in the USA, this cheese is commonly known as 'Cream of Vermont' or Cremont in short. Nutty, creamy, rich in fat, and hand-shaped, this cheese works deliciously well with a savory flatbread, some toasted pecans, or is best enjoyed with a cold glass of champagne or cider.

Brie

For a safe gastronomic option add Brie to your cheeseboard because it is also a pantry staple and fan favorite. This soft French cheese is mild and pairs well with fruits, or topped on lightly salted crackers. For a luxury experience, enjoy it with some salami and watch your guests drool!

Pérail de Brebis

Creamy, smooth, and a favorite among the French, this soft cheese is made from unpasteurized sheep milk. Pérail de Brebis is best paired with crackers, or better yet, some cold sliced prosciutto. It's not a common choice for a cheese board, so you'll raise some eyebrows!

Pleasant Ridge Reserve

Pleasant Ridge Reserve is an artisan cheese made exclusively during the summer months in the USA. The grass-fed milk translates to rich nutty and sweet flavor profiles of the cheese making them irresistible when you have it with Pinot Noir. You can even enjoy the cheese bites as is, because of their fruity taste!

Stilton

Blue cheese is always a risky add-on for every meal, but not if you plan on adding Stilton to the mix. This sem-soft cheese is earthy and has an intense flavor profile which is enhanced when you top it off on a hot sauce or a salad.

Majorero

Pale white and semi-hard, Majorero is a Spanish cheese made from unpasteurized goat milk. This cheese is made in the Canary Islands and while the flavor is slightly acidic, the sweet & nutty taste is best enjoyed with a fruit or dessert of your choice!

Cheddar

When you're hosting a New Year party that also has kids involved, then you cannot go wrong with cheddar cubes on toothpicks with a topping of grape or cherry. It's fun, nutritious, and works well with any fruit juice the little ones love. A party hit for sure!

Harbison

For all soft cheese lovers, Harbison is one cheese you must have on the cheese board. This spoonable cheese is creamy, sweet, and woody, going perfectly with some white wine or cold beer. Keep the bark as is, slice off the top rind, and warm it in the oven for a fondue-like texture that is decadent and irresistible!

Manchego

Unlike a few types of cheese on this list, Manchego comes in different varieties - Fresco, Semi Curado, Curado, and Viejo. This hard cheese can be sliced up and served on a platter to enjoy with fruits and wine. The best part is that it can also be added to toasted bread as a grilled cheese sandwich for the kids.

It can be tempting to fill up the board with all these different cheeses. Instead of overfilling your cheese board, stick to a few of your favorite choices to make the board pretty and clutter-free. Let us know which types of cheese were the party favorite, and how many varieties you prefer to add to your party cheese board!
