How To Store Mozzarella Cheese

It's crucial to store mozzarella cheese correctly to keep it fresh and flavourful for as long as possible. The best place to store mozzarella cheese is in the refrigerator.

The cheese should be kept in its original packaging or wrapped tightly in plastic wrap to prevent lock-in moisture and prevent any unwanted absorption of random fridge odors. Even so, it's best to avoid storing mozzarella cheese in the coldest part of the refrigerator, such as the back of the shelf or the vegetable crisper, as the extremely low temperature can cause the cheese to harden and lose some of its silky appeal.

Once opened, mozzarella cheese should be consumed within three to five days for the best quality. If you cannot finish the cheese within this timeframe, freezing – as we have seen – remains an option, although you might be limited in the number of ways you can use it.
